The Principal Accountant General is assisted by 02 Group Officers from the Indian Audit and Accounts Service of the level of Senior Time Scale/Junior Administrative grade, 01 Group officer (Adhoc) and one Welfare Officer. The Principal Accountant General (A&E) office has got four distinct functional groups viz., Administration, Accounts, Provident Fund and Pension.

Each wing is headed by the Group Officers viz. Deputy Accountant General/Senior Deputy Accountant General. The welfare of the staff and the office maintenance, liaison with Central Public Works Department etc. are entrusted to the Welfare Officer, who directly reports to the Accountant General. The Principal Accountant General directly supervises the Grievances redressal Cell and the Internal Test Audit Wing.
